Krembil Research Institute,

University Health Network

Toronto, Canada

The Krembil Research Institute (or Krembil) is one of the principal research institutes of the University Health Network. Krembil is focused on research programs dedicated to brain & spine, arthritis and vision disorders with a goal to alleviate debilitating chronic disease through basic, translational and clinical research. Krembil is located at the Toronto Western Hospital in downtown Toronto. For more information, visit https://www.uhn.ca/Research/Research_Institutes/Krembil

Igor Jurisica, Ph.D.

Senior Scientist, Krembil Research Institute
Data Science Discovery Centre for Chronic Diseases
Principal Investigator, Mapping Cancer Markers

Dr. Jurisica's research focuses on integrative computational biology in the context of chronic diseases, alternative treatments and prevention. This involves representation, analysis and visualization of high-dimensional data to identify prognostic/predictive signatures, drug mechanism of action and in silico re-positioning of drugs. Interests include comparative analysis for mining different integrated data sets (e.g., protein-protein interactions, high-dimensional cancer data, life style measures, and high-throughput screens for protein crystallization).
